WHY VOICEBALANCE

Why VoiceBalance?

Straws and lip trills fix the constriction in place, so you cannot articulate. They train the voice, yet the bridge to real singing and speaking stays broken. VoiceBalance was created to cross that gap.

01 — ONLY ONE

Semi-occlusion that survives articulation

The mouthpiece wings sit between your teeth and lips, so the semi-occluded environment holds even as you move your jaw through A-E-I-O-U. That is why training transfers naturally into real singing and speech.

02 — SCIENCE

The science of transglottal pressure

Semi-occlusion raises supraglottal pressure, narrowing the pressure gap across the vocal folds so they vibrate regularly without slamming together. Less vocal load, less throat squeeze — we change the pressure environment instead of telling you to relax.

03 — ANYWHERE

Anywhere, quietly

A compact design that fits in one hand. Practice at night without disturbing neighbors, and care for your voice with short warm-up and cool-down routines around performances and lectures.

THE SCIENCE

It all comes down to transglottal pressure

Most voice problems come down to the balance between the pressure pushing up from below the vocal folds and the pressure building above them. VoiceBalance teaches your body that balance.

Transglottal pressure = Psub − Psup
  • Less vocal-fold load — With supraglottal pressure raised, the pressure gap narrows and the folds sustain regular mucosal vibration without harsh collision.
  • Release of throat squeeze — The raised pressure opens the space above the folds, gently easing the grip of laryngeal hypertension.
  • Breath support (appoggio) — Working against back-pressure, the body recruits more breath support, abdominal pressure rises, and a stable respiratory base is built.

※ VoiceBalance is a voice and breathing training device. For persistent voice symptoms, please consult an ENT specialist or a certified voice trainer first.

Coach VoBal VOICEBALANCE COACH
Hi! I'm VoBal, your VoiceBalance coach! Bite gently on my horn-shaped mouthpiece between your teeth and lips, and a cushion of pressure forms above your vocal folds. On that cushion you can sing all you like without your folds slamming together. Better yet, you can freely switch between A-E-I-O-U — something my straw and lip-trill friends simply cannot do! Just follow the three steps below.
HOW TO TRAINTrain with Coach VoBal
1

Bite gently

Rest the mouthpiece between your teeth and lips and the semi-occluded environment is set. Air keeps flowing naturally through the vent hole.

2

Make sound

Hum on a comfortable pitch and feel the balance between your breath and the pressure supporting your folds from above.

3

Articulate

Move through A-E-I-O-U and scales. Semi-occlusion holds throughout, so the training carries straight into real singing and speech.

WHEN IT HELPS

When VoiceBalance helps

Every symptom has a different mechanism. VoiceBalance supports each situation by changing the pressure environment — never by forcing.

CASE 01When your throat squeezes
The cause is not weakness but excess breath pressure and laryngeal tension. Pushing harder squeezes tighter.
Semi-occlusion raises supraglottal pressure, narrows the gap, and trains the feeling of space opening above the folds.
CASE 02When high notes cut out
As you climb, a broken pressure balance can reach the point where vibration simply stops.
Open the air hole slightly to fine-tune pressure — a VoiceBalance-only method for training the upper range.
CASE 03When your voice sounds breathy
When the folds do not close fully, air leaks and the tone turns breathy and husky.
Semi-occlusion reduces wasted airflow and guides the folds toward even contact and regular vibration.
CASE 04After a long day of talking
Repeated hard contact loads the vocal-fold mucosa until your throat feels swollen.
Low-impact vibration with a narrowed pressure gap builds a cool-down routine that unloads the same amount of voicing.
CASE 05Warming up before shows & lectures
Cold starts shock the folds — that crack on the first song is a warm-up problem, not a talent problem.
A short 5–10 minute routine pre-sets your pressure balance and breath support.
CASE 06When your pitch gets stuck
Without breath support at the chest-to-middle transition, the pitch stalls in place.
Building abdominal pressure and appoggio helps the locked range open upward.

※ Everything here is written from a training perspective. If you have pain or persistent symptoms, see an ENT specialist or consult a certified voice trainer first.

FOR YOUR SITUATION

Why you need VoiceBalance, whatever your situation

Voice, breathing, and everyday speech. Tap the tab that fits you.

High notes, register shifts, projection

Training for singers, musical-theatre performers, and speakers. Expand the cheeks and pharyngeal space in a comfortable range, hold a steady exhale, then extend upward step by step through vowel transitions and short scales.

  • Use for warm-ups, pattern checks during practice, and cool-downs
  • Keep the exhale steady first through register transitions
  • A stepwise approach that never forces the sound up
보이스밸런스 발성 훈련

Train breathing muscles against resistance

Use the device's resistance to train inhalation and exhalation muscles progressively. Start by sipping air in and blowing it out, then raise the intensity within a safe range as you adapt.

  • Always breathe in and out through the mouth
  • Focus on silent pressure training, no phonation
  • Great for wind players and athletes too
보이스밸런스 호흡 훈련

Because every voice matters

Hoarseness, an unconfident tone, throat tension after long conversations. Teachers, lecturers, and counselors can use a short vocal warm-up before class or sessions.

  • Before a talk or interview, read your actual script while wearing it
  • Feel the exhale stay unbroken as you articulate
  • 5–10 minutes per session, rest well, repeat

Semi-occlusion that survives articulation

Straws and lip trills fix the front constriction, so articulation is impossible. VoiceBalance's mouthpiece wings sit between the teeth and lips, keeping semi-occlusion intact while you articulate and move your jaw — the core difference.

  • Raises supraglottal pressure (Psup) to narrow the transglottal gap
  • Guides regular vibration without harsh fold collision
  • Trains breathing muscles, diaphragm, and appoggio together

GREETING

"I wanted to cut the time and cost of vocal training,
so everyone could own a beautiful voice."

In the age of K-pop and auditions, more people than ever want to sing well or work with their voice. Yet learning to sing has always demanded years and money — and poor teaching could waste both.

So I built VoiceBalance — a trainer that restores the voice's balance: powerful, resilient sound for professionals; an open tone and easier high notes for musicians; and a confident voice for everyone.

I hope you will build your own beautiful, refined voice with VoiceBalance.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is this device for?
Singers of all kinds (pop, classical, musical theatre, choirs), voice professionals (actors, teachers, announcers, counselors, clergy), and anyone who wants a better voice. It also serves wind players and athletes who need breathing-muscle training.
How much should I train each day?
Short and frequent beats long and rare — aim for 5–10 minutes at a time. Use it as a warm-up before singing or lecturing and a cool-down after, and it becomes a natural habit.
How is it different from straw phonation or lip trills?
The principle is the same SOVT. The decisive difference is that you can articulate — straws and lip trills lock your mouth shape, while VoiceBalance lets you train through A-E-I-O-U with semi-occlusion intact, carrying directly into real singing and speech.
Will I feel it right away?
The pressure change from semi-occlusion is usually felt from the first use — phonation simply feels easier. Changing vocal habits, though, means nerves and muscles learning a new balance, which settles gradually over weeks. Consistency matters.
How do I clean it?
The parts separate, so you can rinse the silicone mouthpiece and the body under running water. Dry before storing.
Can I practice quietly at night?
Yes. Sound stays quiet under semi-occlusion, so you can train at night without disturbing anyone — a favorite feature for people who struggle to find practice time.
Can I use it if I have a voice disorder?
VoiceBalance is a training device, not a medical device. If you have pain or persistent symptoms such as hoarseness, please see an ENT specialist first, and train in consultation with a certified voice trainer.
Where do I apply for the Certified Voice Trainer program?
Education, examination, and issuance are run by the Korea Vocal & Voice Certification Association. Apply through VoiceBalance or the association website (Korean).
